ECONOMICS 1203 - 711
SYLLABUS

Fall, 2008

OFFICE HOURS: I am an adjunct (part-time) faculty member of the Economics & Finance faculty, I am NEVER in my University office; on the home page of this website is a list of courses that I teach if you need to see me on campus.  The best way to reach me is by email: mark@markrosa.com.

TEXT: Micro Econ, by William A McEachern.  ISBN:  9780324587388

COURSE OBJECTIVE: To learn basic microeconomic concepts emphasizing both theoretical and practical applications of the subject.

There are NO makeup exams.

  • Test 1 will cover chapters 1-5.
  • Test 2 will cover chapters 6-10.
  • Test 3 will cover chapters 11-15.
  • Test 4 will cover chapters 16-20.
  • FINAL EXAM:  5:30-7:30pm, Tuesday, December 9, 2008. Same room.
  • EXAMS: Exams are listed on this syllabus and will cover chapters indicated. Exams contain multiple choice questions. The final exam is comprehensive.
  • Since this is an internet class, exams have to be graded by hand.  I will post the grades for each of the exams on this site as quickly as I can get them graded.
  • To aid the grading process, follow these steps:  Put your name and a special code on the exams.  I need your name for the grade book, I need a special code, one about four digits long, one that you make up, to post your grade on the site.  You can then identify your score by your special code.  Only you and I will know your code, I cannot post grades by name or student number.
  • Since the final is comprehensive, you may "drop" your lowest exam grade. You may not drop the final. You may not be exempt from the final. You may not "make-up" a missed exam, use the missed exam as the "drop."

  • GRADING:
    90 – 100% = A
    80 – 89 = B
    70 – 79 = C
    60 – 69 = D
    0 – 59 = F

    I do NOT curve scores

    EXAM VALUES:
    Exam 1 = 25%
    Exam 2 = 25%
    Exam 3 = 25%
    Exam 4 = 25%
    Final Exam = 25%

  • Accommodation for Students with Disabilities: It is University policy to provide, on a flexible and individualized basis, reasonable accommodations to students who have disabilities that may affect their ability to participate in course activities or to meet course requirements.  Students with disabilities should contact the Office of Disability Services as well as their instructors to discuss their individual needs for accommodations.

  • Academic integrity:  Students are expected to conduct themselves according to the principles of academic integrity as defined in the statement on Academic Dishonesty in the UNO Judicial Code. Any student or group found to have committed an act of academic dishonesty shall have their case turned over to Judicial Affairs for disciplinary action which may result in penalties as severe as indefinite suspension from the University. Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to: cheating, plagiarism, fabrication, or misrepresentation, and being an accessory to an act of academic dishonesty.
