The 5-litre "flat 12 that this car is famous for:  390 horsepower.

 

Interestingly enough, the engine, gear box and rear differential must be pulled as one package for engine service.  A major "tune-up" costs about $6,000 and must be performed every 15,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first.  The main reason that the full maintenance is performed is to change the cam belts; there are two, they are impossible to change while the engine package is in the car.  Periodic maintenance is one of the reasons that these cars are so expensive to own.  The Ferrari owning community in New Orleans is blessed with master mechanics of Lindsey Automotive who keeps all of us on the road.
